Grant Program Helps Electrify New Wave of Zero Emission School Bus Deliveries

ADOMANI-powered School Buses are revolutionizing student transportation

ADOMANI®-powered school bus deliveries aided by California Energy Commission's grant program

Adomani Electric (NASDAQ:ADOM)

The grant solicitation announced $75 Million in Clean Energy Job Creation funding to fund projects that replace old diesel school buses in California”

— California Energy Commission

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA, USA, June 13, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Electrified Public School buses are clearly the future of student transportation. ADOMANI Electric, a leader in electrified vehicle technology, has developed a wide array of fully electric school buses and other utility vehicles for the public use. The recent sale of a fleet of electrified cargo vans to the city of Santa Clara is just another validation as to the impact of their electrification platforms.

Working with BlueBird, one of the largest school bus producers in the world, ADOMANI developed, produces and delivers all-electric school buses with 125 miles of range and simplified recharging parameters. Recent successes include delivery of an all-electric Bluebird/ADOMANI school bus to the Fowler Unified School District outside of Fresno and five buses to the Twin Rivers School district in northern Sacramento County. Vehicles such as this fit perfectly with the recent release (June 3, 2019) of the California Energy Commission's Grant Solicitation program that will help fund electric school bus sales throughout the state.

Clearly the first question a public school board needs to address with regards to full electrification of their bus fleet is paying for them. California has already mandated that all new school bus purchases after 2020 must be electrified. The California Energy Commission's Grant Solicitation program will help fund the procurement of new fully electric school buses across the state.

"The grant solicitation announced $75 Million in Clean Energy Job Creation funding to fund projects that replace old diesel school buses in California," their recent report states. "These funds are evenly distributed among four regions ($18.75 million per region (Northern, Central, Southern California and Los Angeles, County). The Clean Transportation Program component of this solicitation was an offer to fund up to $60,000 in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure for each of the electric school buses awarded under this solicitation."

Recent advancements in ADOMANI's line of efficient and clean electric school buses are the perfect fit for the future of student transportation. Of key interest to school administrators, ADOMANI offers a program that converts original diesel buses to all electric at far less cost than new electric buses. Using California Energy Commission funds and state-available rebates, these buses could cost school districts zero dollars to make upgrade to full-electric propulsion. That's a plan we can all get behind.

Particle Testing Authority (PTA) Extends Its Ability to Investigate Dispersion Stability with a New Tool

Formulaction’s Turbiscan TOWER

Particle Testing Authority (PTA)

Micromeritics

Micromeritics Division Adds Formulaction’s Turbiscan TOWER to its Arsenal of Characterization Instrumentation

For many years as Micromeritics Analytical Services, we have been known as the “gold standard” for surface area and pore size testing.”

— Greg Thiele, General Manager of PTA.

NORCROSS, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, June 13, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — In its ongoing efforts to add the most advanced analytical equipment, Particle Testing Authority (PTA), a division of Micromeritics Instrument Corporation, today announced it has acquired Formulaction’s Turbiscan TOWER to help solve dispersion stability issues.

Turbiscan TOWER is the new flagship product of the Turbiscan range for full characterization of the colloidal stability of concentrated dispersions (emulsions, suspensions, foams). Six independent measurement positions allow simultaneous comparison of formulations for faster and better understanding of destabilization mechanisms (creaming, sedimentation, flocculation, coalescence). Measurements can be performed from 4 to 80°C to accelerate destabilization process or to reproduce storage conditions. An improved mechanical design and vertical set-up offer improved performance and smaller bench footprint.

“For many years as Micromeritics Analytical Services, we have been known as the “gold standard” for surface area and pore size testing,” said Greg Thiele, General Manager of PTA. “Over time we have expanded our capabilities and expertise in characterizing powders whether they are dry or dispersed in a liquid, so the Turbiscan is a natural addition because of its ability to measure stability of the dispersions.”

Thiele added, “many of our customers who choose us for particle size distribution and zeta potential measurements use this information to assess the stability of their particles in a colloidal system. With the Turbiscan, we can now give them a comprehensive understanding of how their suspension will behave by measuring the migration of the particles so that the rates of phenomena such as sedimentation or agglomeration can be determined within minutes. With this analysis, even the shelf life can be accurately predicted.”

Thiele said with the Turbiscan PTA now has the capabilities to:

– Show how particle size and zeta potential fit into bigger picture
– Provide data on how dispersion destabilize
– Quantify dispersibility
– Quickly qualify if redispersion can be achieved effectively
– Determine within three days what would normally take 4 to 10 weeks
– Measure emulsions as-is without any dilution or disturbance

PTA recently added a DVS Resolution from Surface Measurement Systems to complement its DVS Advantage and DVS Intrinsic.

About Particle Testing Authority

The Particle Testing Authority (PTA) provides material characterization services for fine powders and solid materials using Micromeritics’ instrumentation alongside complementary solutions from other vendors. With the certification and expertise to operate across a wide range of industries, the PTA offering runs from single sample analysis to complex method development, method validation, new product assessment, and the analytical support required for large-scale manufacturing projects. An experienced, highly trained team of scientists, engineers, and lab personnel works closely with every client to ensure that all analytical requirements are rapidly and responsively addressed. The company has its worldwide headquarters in Norcross, GA, USA and its European and Chinese HQ in Munich, Germany and Shanghai, China, respectively. ACUF ORGANIZE THE 2019 AMAKA CHIWUIKE-UBA ANNUAL NATIONAL ASTHMA CONFERENCE

2019 Amaka Chiwuike-UbaAnnual National Asthma Conference

ACUF holds the 2019 Amaka Chiwuike-Uba Annual National Asthma Conference themed “Better Breathing, Better Living: The Role of the Environment and Governance”

Together, We shall BEAT ASTHMA”

— Chiwuike Uba

ENUGU, AFRICA, NIGERIA, June 13, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — he Amaka Chiwuike-Uba Foundation (ACUF) presents the 2019 Amaka Chiwuike-Uba Annual National Asthma Conference themed “Better Breathing, Better Living: The Role of the Environment and Governance”. The Conference will be held on Thursday, 18th July 2019 at the Oaklands Hotel in Enugu, Nigeria.

The Board Chairman of the Amaka Chiwuike Uba Foundation (ACUF), Dr. Chiwuike Uba, has said that the annual national asthma conference "is to throw more light on the role of the environment and governance on the management of respiratory diseases; especially, asthma".

In a statement to the media on Monday in Abuja, Uba said that the conference is so important, in view of people dying daily from air pollution-related diseases, including asthma complications and that "the conference is expected to X-ray the linkages between the environment and governance and its impact on health management, as well as make policy recommendations on ways to 'deal' with the identified challenges".

He revealed that the theme of the conference, "Better Breathing, Better Living: The Role of the Environment and Governance" is unique and coming at the right time, because "we are faced with challenges ranging from being rated as one the most polluted countries in the word to a country grappling with a lot of problems associated with other governance issues".

He added that, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), air pollution is responsible for more than 12million deaths per year, that the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets —SDG 3 (Good health and well-being), SDG 6 (Clean water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable clean energy), SDG 13 (Climate action), SDG 14 (Life below water) and SDG 16 (Peace, Security and Strong Institutions) is dependent on the environment and governance outcomes.

"The Annual Conference is a platform to discuss national issues, especially health and related matters in an evidence-based approach. The workshop provides policy alternatives and action plan on how to solve the identified challenges because most diseases are associated with environmental and governance issues. Therefore, the 2019 conference will look at issues related to our environmental governance and other governance issues, as they affect health management in Nigeria.

"Governance is core to a sustainable environment and development. We recognize that Nigeria's economy will be improved if the environment provides better breathing and people live a healthy life with guaranteed access to quality and affordable health care. So, for a conference of this nature, you need people who have the passion and genuinely working for the progress, prosperity, and renaissance of our dear country, Nigeria," he said.

Uba further revealed that collaborators like Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Nigerian Thoracic Society (NTS), the Knowledge and Policy Management Initiative (KAPOMI) and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Alliance, Nigeria are partners in the conference, even as he said that the choice of keynote and experts for the conference is "based on their passion for good governance, inclusiveness, access to quality and affordable healthcare and their expertise in the areas they would be speaking on".

He named some of the key speakers at the Conference to include Nigeria’s former Minister for Health – Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu who will be the chairman of the Conference; Dr. Oby Ezekwesili –the former World Bank Vice-President and Nigeria’s former Education Minister and presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) in the 2019 general elections; renowned public policy expert, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Consultant Public Health Physician, Prof. Benjamin Uzochukwu, Consultant Respiratory and Chest Physician, Prof. Gregory Efosa Emerhbor, administrator and health professional, Prof. Rowland Ndoma-Egba, Ademola H. Adigun, Dr. Adaeze Ayuk, Dr. Ifediora Amobi, Larry Oguego, among other national and international experts.

Dr. Uba also called for a partnership to develop more strategic sources of funding in order to ensure sustainable long-term programming and improve the quality of life of people, saying that, "painfully, we are unable to do all that we propose to do; as a result of financial challenges. It is our hope that people will begin to support the Foundation financially by making donations and getting involved in fundraising for ACUF. We indeed need financial support."

“We also wish to appreciate individuals and some corporate organizations that provided one form of support or the other to the Foundation; especially, Oaklands Hotel & Amusement Park, Little Lung Africa (LLA), Blueprint Newspapers, Oracle Newspaper," he said.

ACUF was founded in 2016, in memory of Mrs. Amaka Uba, who died of asthma complications in 2016 with the vision of a society with better breathing, better living, and a happier, united and prosperous people. In achieving its mission of improving the quality of life of people, it carries out its objectives through the facilitation of evidence-based socio-economic research, policy dialogues/advocacy, training and education, and networking.

ACUF…improving the quality of life people. Support ACUF and together, we shall BEAT Asthma!

Pimalai Resort & Spa: Sustainability Foresight Changing Koh Lanta

Pimalai Resort & Spa in Koh Lanta

Green Globe member the luxurious Pimalai Resort & Spa details their best practices and future sustainability plans.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 13, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Green Globe member the luxurious Pimalai Resort & Spa details their best practices in the Thai region of Koh Lanta and their forthcoming plans for future sustainability directions.

Pimalai Biogas Unit

The Pimalai Biogas Plant is one of the latest initiatives in addressing food waste issues at the property. The resort team has learned the details of biogas processing from Mr. Kosol Saengthong who operates a successful local biogas plant in Phetchaburi province. In January 2019, the biogas unit arrived at Pimalai and is situated next to the staff canteen. It is a large polyester sack that resembles a big balloon and used to contain methane gas. About 200 kg of kitchen food scraps per day will be emptied into the sack. The scraps will ferment naturally and produce methane gas which will be utilized as a fuel in the staff canteen kitchen.

Approximately half of the lower part of the biogas unit, a 50 cubic meter cylinder shaped sack, is secured underground. Cow dung and water are fed into the unit to initiate the fermentation process and the subsequent release of methane gas. Once in operation, pressurized methane gas will lower energy costs used by the kitchen and also reduce the amount of methane that escapes to the atmosphere by the normal decomposition of food waste. It is a win-win situation.

Rak Lanta Project

Over the past decade, Koh Lanta has seen a substantial increase in the number of tourist arrivals on the island. One outcome of this growth is that waste management is now becoming a major issue due to the lack of a suitable landfill facility. Local authorities also face challenges in managing the problem with limited resources.

Pimalai Resort & Spa upholds its moral and social responsibilities by supporting initiatives that preserve Koh Lanta’s natural environment as well as making it a sustainable tourist destination, bringing positive benefits to local communities. The resort initiated its Rak Lanta Project to raise awareness within the community to protect Koh Lanta’s exquisite natural environs and to reduce waste pollution both on land and at sea. Pimalai has been actively promoting and providing waste bins and garbage storage facilities around Kantiang beach and now garbage is properly disposed of at a specially designated area. This has restored beach surrounds back to their original beauty and reduced the amount of water-borne garbage deposited on the beach.

The resort has helped local communities, shop owners and resort operators to separate garbage in a systematic manner so that non-compostable materials can be recycled more easily. School students are also educated on waste separation programs and each school is provided with 5 sets of clearly labeled bins to simplify waste segregation. In addition, there are plans to set up a collection “cage” where students can deposit plastic bottles. The cage will be emptied each week by a company that will pay for the plastics, providing additional income to the school to spend on much needed items.

Future Community Actions

This year, Pimalai has a future plans to expand its Rak Lanta Project to all 14 schools in Koh Lanta Yai, Lanta Noi and Koh Por. The resort will also conduct quarterly meetings with school teachers to share results and benchmark best practices in order to monitor individual progress. Other future projects, in addition to waste separation, is to disseminate information about Pimalai waste management skills on waste decomposition and biogas processing so schools can make their own fertilizer to grow food crops and lower their school kitchens’ fuel costs.

Finally, the resort will be embarking on an exciting new initiative to tackle plastic garbage pollution and plans to launch a “Say No to Plastic bags and Foam” program to reduce plastic consumption, a major waste management issue in Koh Lanta and beyond.

Green Globe Certification: Barceló Occidental Cozumel & Barceló Allegro Cozumel

Occidental Cozumel and Allegro Cozumel Beach Cleanup

Green Globe has awarded the Barceló Occidental Cozumel & Barceló Allegro Cozumel their inaugural certifications.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 13, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Green Globe awarded the Barceló Occidental Cozumel & Barceló Allegro Cozumel their inaugural certifications in April this year. Both all-inclusive resorts are located on the beautiful island of Cozumel overlooking the Mexican Caribbean Sea. The nearby Palancar Reef is considered one of the top 5 dive destinations in the world.

Ricardo Bravo, Quality Manager at Occidental Cozumel and Allegro Cozumel, details the importance of attaining Green Globe Certification at the two Mexican resorts.

Through this certification process we have realized and become aware of the privilege and fragility of the unique ecosystems at our properties. It has helped us understand that a proper environmental program was needed and enabled us to identify what appeared as seemingly harmless actions by visitors, had the potential to have massive negative impacts on Cozumel Island’s reefs and its National Marine Park.

Environmental Protection

Our initial sustainable actions at Occidental Cozumel and Allegro Cozumel included banning single use plastics like straws, looking for ecofriendly alternatives where possible and organising beach cleanups. However, we wanted to push ourselves further and make it clear that our commitment to the environment is a serious one.

Developing our internal policies and regulations regarding the care of the marine park is one of our key concerns. Working together with advice provided by local authorities, staff members have received training and talks on different sustainability topics such as waste management, sargassum seaweed, and wildlife management and protection.

One of the major achievements arising from this program is the launch of a campaign developed by the resorts where guests are encouraged not to take any marine life or plants from the sea as it disturbs the rhythms and cycles of the underwater ecosystems. Efforts are made via various communication mediums to deter the removal of flora and fauna from occurring in the first place. If, however, native starfish, coral pieces or seashells are found inside a room, in public areas or any other areas of the hotels, staff members are authorized to remove the objects and return it to its original environment.

Caretta Sea Turtles

Occidental Cozumel and Allegro Cozumel also sponsored a scientific investigation to place a GPS tracker on two Caretta sea turtles, which arrive every summer at Cozumel Island for the nesting season. Members of our staff were invited to witness, learn and assist a group of biologists. Talks were also presented on the function of this type of research, highlighting the delicate processes of nesting for turtles, and the proper handling of nesting turtles on our adjoining beaches.

In preparation for the arrival of turtles during the nesting season on Cozumel Island, every summer the two resorts invite staff to take part in a massive beach cleanup and provide any necessary tools and equipment. The joint beach cleanup is organized by local authorities working in collaboration with other hotels, businesses, schools and members from the local community.

Sharing Mayan Culture

Since we started building a path towards sustainable development, we have discovered ways to build closer relationships with guests and the local community. Our newly gained knowledge and increasing environmental awareness also assists us with creating experiences based on education, respect and memories that embrace the Mayan culture and its traditions. Guests can learn about Mayan culture through enjoying entertainment and shows showcasing local and traditional dance and song in the Mayan language. Many other opportunities to experience Mayan and Mexican culture are on offer at the properties including sampling delicious local dishes.

— Abdul Wasay

LONDON, GREATER LONDON, UK, June 12, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The global market for natural gas distribution is expected to reach a value of nearly above $870 billion by 2021, having grown at an annual rate of above 4% since 2018.

The growth in the natural gas distribution market is due to increase in demand for natural gas from households and power generation companies around the world, which use natural gas for domestic and commercial purposes.
However, the market for natural gas distribution is expected to face certain restraints from several factors such as rise in debts, electricity transmission and distribution losses.

The natural gas distribution market consists of sales of natural gas by entities (organizations, sole traders and partnerships) that operate gas distribution systems (e.g., mains, meters) including gas marketers that buy gas from the well and sell it to a distribution system, gas brokers or agents that arrange the sale of gas over gas distribution systems operated by others and establishments that transmit and distribute gas to final consumers.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, June 12, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A new analysis by Verify Markets shows the North American Aerial Equipment Rental Market was valued at $15.7 billion in 2018 and is expected to reach revenues of over $20.0 billion by 2025. Aerial equipment is an established part of the North American rental landscape. Aerial equipment is generally a large portion of the fleet for equipment rental companies, and serves an indicator of good and bad times to come, especially in construction, civil, and industrial applications. The aerial equipment rental marketplace is a highly fragmented without a single stakeholder controlling more than 15 percent market share.

The aerial equipment market is projected to experience a steady growth rate during the next seven years. Growth is expected to be driven by demand from construction, as well as industrial/retail end-user markets, a shift towards rental, and a response to labor and skills shortages.

In recent years, major acquisitions have impacted the aerial equipment markets in the U.S. and Canada considerably. Acquisition activity has been relatively high among firms of all sizes, but this is especially true for larger firms. The larger firms have more access to financing and can more easily absorb the footprint, IT systems, and other aspects of the acquired infrastructure.

The North American Total Equipment Rental Market is a highly fragmented and competitive space with a handful of larger public rental firms and many smaller independent players. Demand for rental equipment and, specifically, aerial equipment is strongly correlated with economic cyclicality and commercial construction trends.

This study aims to provide a detailed analysis of the North American Aerial Rental Market with competitive analysis for the United States and Canada. Market forecasts are provided for each country from 2018-2025. Total equipment rental revenues and aerial equipment rental revenues are estimated for 2018, as well as major trends, fleet breakout by piece count, fleet breakout by value, technology and regulation impacts, market challenges, and competitive profiles for United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, Herc Rentals, and Ahern Rentals.
